YOUR WORDS STAY YOURS

Your manuscript
stays with you.

On your device

Bookbndr processes manuscript files in your browser. We do not upload your manuscript, parsed document, cover images, uploaded ornaments, or authored front/back-matter prose to our account service.

The workspace saves a temporary copy in this browser’s IndexedDB to restore your book after sign-in, checkout, or moving to Studio. Temporary manuscript sessions expire after seven days when next accessed. Local project settings and local images remain until you remove them. Use “Remove local documents & images” in the workspace to clear this account’s local assets. Keep your master document backed up.

In your account

When signed in, Bookbndr synchronizes project names, book metadata, formatting settings, chapter mappings, section configuration, and reusable themes. Sign-in works with a 6-digit code that we email you through SendGrid; we keep a short-lived record of the request (your email address, a hash of the code, the time and your network address) for up to 24 hours, and a server-side session that ends when you sign out or after 90 days. Our Azure account service stores identity identifiers, purchases, gift-code redemptions, license status, settings, and operational audit records. Lemon Squeezy handles checkout and payment information. The email address you give at checkout is stored with your purchase so it can be matched to the account that signs in with it.

Export authorization sends an account request, never your book. A network connection is required when exporting. On another device, reopen your manuscript and reattach your images.

Gift codes

Redeeming a gift links its license to your verified account. We keep the code’s fingerprint, redemption email and date, license status, and an audit trail to administer lifetime access. The complete code and email are held temporarily in this tab during sign-in; they are cleared after redemption or when you select “Clear saved details.” Saved redemption details expire after one hour when the page is next opened.

Retention and your choices

Local documents are under your control and can be removed from the workspace. Cloud settings are kept while your account is in use. Contact us to request account deletion. Purchase and audit records may need to be retained to administer lifetime access and meet legal obligations. Operational logs are retained for 30 days.
