Add a cover image

What you'll do: add the picture that appears on the front of your book in stores and on a reader's bookshelf.

Your cover image is set on the Setup step, under Cover image.

Steps

1. Go to the Setup step.
2. Scroll to Cover image.
3. Click Drop cover or click to browse, or drag your image file onto the box.
4. Once it's added you'll see a thumbnail. To change it, hover the thumbnail and click Replace cover.

What makes a good cover file

• Format: JPEG or PNG, in RGB color.
• Size: about 1600 × 2560 pixels works well (a 1 : 1.6 shape — taller than it is wide).
• Minimum: at least 1400 pixels on the shortest side; the long edge should be 2500 pixels or more for the major retailers.
• File size: under 50 MB.

If your image is too small or the wrong shape, Bookbndr will warn you — but it will still let you continue.

Don't have a cover yet?

You can build and export your EPUB without one and add it later. A cover is required by most stores before you publish, though, so add it before you upload.
